A Hawaiian Baby Shower...
This past Sunday the girls at church threw me a Hawaiian themed baby shower. I had told them that we were doing Kai's nursery in the same "Aloha Baby" bedding that we had used for Eliana, and they just took that and ran with it. It was so fun to see how creative they were! I would have to say that my favorite part was as I started to open gifts, they turned on a cd of Hawaiian music. Oh my! I could literally just close my eyes and be back there! Hearing softly playing Hawaiian music always makes me think of landing in Hawaii and getting off the plane to that welcome sound. Then stepping outside and feeling the breeze and smelling that sweet tropical air. For those of you who know, are you there with me now?!:) I was so touched by the amount of time and love that went into planning that shower for me. For a girl that is desperately missing "home" it sure made my heart smile, not to mention all of the fun stuff that we got for Kai.:)

My heart still aches for the island and we were even chatting of it tonight. Tomorrow I meet with a friend who will be going for a week. I will hook her up with all the great "local" places to go. I'm so jealous and can taste Island Sno, smell the plumeria and Maui Taco's and I can hear the lapping waves at Ko'Olina. Oh, I have to stop or my heart breaks. Meet me there sometime soon?!
Absolutely!! When are we going? I have a little prior committment for about another 2 months or so... but anytime after that!! I am totally there with you on that... it is really like it is a part of me on the inside.:) My sister and her family went for a wedding in Feb. and I was so jealous! They stayed in Kailua, which made it even worse. Eliana just asked me a few minutes ago when we were going back. She suggested we all get in Daddy's car, after her brother is born of course, and just drive there. I can hold brother, she said, and pretend that my arms are his seatbelt.:)
So fun, what a great way to reminisce. I miss Teddy's over in Kailua. They had awesome burgers. Chris and I loved going there and walking to Morning Brew for coffee across the street.
I haven't figured out how to view the slide show with my new computer (I'll eventually figure it out), but your descriptions sure bring back memories. So glad you have such a wonderful thoughtful group of friends to spoil you at the end! :) I keep thinking and praying for my pregnant friends!
Oh, I did have real Hawaiian shave ice the other day (although maybe it wasn't completely real since it wasn't IN Hawaii), but it tasted SOOOOOOO good!
